Day 2 - Sailing to St. Helena

From Wiets.
We are now almost at the end of day 2 sailing to St. Helena. Since last night, we sailing on a port broad reach heading in the direction of St. Helena. After our bad start and couple of mishaps, I decided to let things settle down a bit for the crew and Revelations. About 2 hours ago, we gybed and we are now on a starboard broad reach sailing back in the direction of the West Coast. Our GPS location 32° 40' South and 15° 21' East - wind speed 22 knots - boat speed 9 knots. We are still sailing with the main sail reefed but will mostly likely look at shaking it as of tomorrow sometime. Quite a bit of our equipment has stopped working for some reason or another; 1. Satellite phone can't send emails or SMS's - something about an incorrect IP address. 2. Network - Navigation software can't talk to the chart plotter. 3. Main PC - one of the hard drives got damaged with all the bumping. 4. AIS - transmitting areal broke off the targa bar. 5. We have difficulties getting GRIB files (weather prediction), so have no clue of the best and fastest route. Other than that, we are all OK and very much alive. One thing though, we have no clue where we are in the race and hate not knowing the positions of our fellow competitors.

From Sue.
We couldn't have done it without our crew, or rather with great difficulty. The hours are hectic, even though divided in 3 hour day shifts and 6 hour night shifts. There seems to be no routine yet, so we sleep and eat on the "fly" as and when needed. Hopefully in the next few days we'll find our sea legs and sea systems to have a closer to normal day and night....... or not. We just heard calls on the VHF radio for to other competitors, which means they are in close range :-) All our friends and family, we are well, no need for any concerns! Please phone my Mom/Dad on 0826532288 and let her know. Love, always!!

Thank GOD
