Zuma Nkandla House - Rags to Riches
There is a persistent rumor that the only South African Government department which actually functions well is SARS - the South African Revenue Services. All the other so-called services offered by the South African Government is in total shambles. From the SA Police Service, the education system, roadworks, electricity supply, the postal service - in fact, I cannot think of one Government department barring SARS which functions with good efficiency.
The SA Police Service is a joke! If crime comes your way, it is a total pointless exercise to run to the police for protection or to seek justice. You will be wasting your time as nothing will come of it. There are a few exceptions though! Reported cases will be investigated if you are a high profile politician, a high profile case making international headlines or a high profile tourist visiting South Africa. Failing this, as a ordinary South African, you are wasting your time reporting things like burglaries, theft, white collar crime, car hi-jackings, assault, murder and just about anything else.
The educational system is in total shambles as seen recently when scholars did not receive any study material until the year was almost over. Then there is the university entry grading thing! If you are black, you score certain points which are not based on merit, but purely because of your skin colour. Am I racist saying such a thing? No, this is the naked truth! This system means that less qualified students are excepted over far better qualified students - meaning, excellent students are declined and not accepted whilst less successful students are accepted.
In the meanwhile, South Africans are taxed more and more! New taxes are introduced on a regular basis - new toll gates, new road taxes, more petrol taxes, higher electricity bills, a continuous devaluating currency making imported goods unaffordable, etc. But where is all this money going to? Besides the millions we lose to corruption and government employees enriching themselves at the expense of the tax payer, our very own President is doing pretty good with his R250 million Rand housing complex!
